Burlesque art is a form of artistic expression that mixes humor, satire, sensuality and extravagance.
It is an artistic process which consists of staging the art of undressing. The appeal lies in the execution and performance of the number, the facial expressions, the finesse of the costumes and the way the artist plays with his props to create a unique moment with his audience.
A true means of creative expression, the first burlesque cabarets emerged in the 19th century, gaining popularity in London and New York during the 1830s and 1840s. Over the years, burlesque evolved and adapted to cultural trends. The aesthetic codes of Pin-ups from the 1950s and 1960s largely contributed to the glory days of burlesque and still inspire young artists.
The Paris Burlesque Show embraces Burlesque as an art form by creating unique sensory experiences that captivate audiences.
